Winner winner, chicken dinner has just GOT to be the most non-sensical phrase ever, but I have wanted to write that for about four+ years now. Katy from “I’m a Ginger Monkey” used to write that for her giveaways. I’m rambling.

Time to pick a winner for my recent Sew Mama Sew Giveaway day post.

I used the number generator which chose comment #56. Screen Shot 2015-12-18 at 8.40.33 PM

My blog doesn’t number comments but I do know there are 50 per page, so starting on the second page and counting down six…

we get KAT’s comment!

Congratulations Kat and thanks to everyone (all 163 of you!) who left a comment for me.

Day 96

Well hurrah! The December edition of the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway day is now done. It was my first time around the block for this one and what a treat it was. I had 423 views (WOW!), 163 comments on this tiny new blog (including someone I know from real life!), and 2 new followers (hello new followers!).

I just need to figure out how to number the darn comments before I’ll pick a winner and mail them their prize. Earlier today I asked W. to choose a number between 1 and 157 (which is where the comments were up to at that point). She chose 157. Then later I asked B. to choose a number between 1 and 163. She chose 163.

I’ll ask Mr. Random Number Generator tomorrow what the winning number is.

Oh and no sewing today. Good day though.

Day 92

Sewing-ish: came up with the quilting plan for the coloured bits on this quilt.

other layout

Hey, it’s the same picture again! I went with a nice { shape which I’ll echo and fill and blah blah blah. Made a template out of a cereal box (old school quilting alert!) and traced it using a hera marker.

Ooo, what’s a hera marker I hear you ask?

There are two styles (both by Clover) but for this quilt I’m using the one on the left. Basically it will make a sharp crease on your fabric. And then you can stitch along it while you build up your free motion quilting skills. Maybe that will happen tomorrow!

I also did up a link for the Sew Mama Sew giveaway day and then I obsessively checked my stats, page views, and comments all day. Excellent for the self-esteem but lousy for productivity.

Fabric for Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day

Hello from the Sew Mama Sew giveaway day and welcome to my blog!

Are you new here? Hey, me too. I’ve been blogging for just about three months now and I keep it pretty simple, just a record of what I did today [sewing wise. No one wants to hear about laundry or kids being shirty.] Feel free to have a browse and see what I’m working on.

Now the real reason you’re here is the giveaway part! I got this sweet mini bundle from Whale’s Tail Quilt Shop in Ketchikan Alaska this summer. It is six pieces of fabric all measuring 9.5″ square. Three are Art Gallery Fabrics, the yellow is a “quilter’s linen” print from Kaufman, and the other two are from an unknown company. All are lovely, all 100% quality quilter’s cotton. It’s a modest giveaway but then I’m a small new-to-blogging blogger. So it fits.

Boring details:

I will ship anywhere in the world. I will also throw in a button from my totally awesome guild, the Victoria Modern Quilt Guild.

Giveaway is open until Sunday, Dec. 13th. Fabric will be shipped by Friday, Dec. 18th.

To enter to win, please tell me what your primary sewing (quilting) machine is! I’ll go first: I use a Husquavarna 2000, which dates from the early/mid-1960s. I date from the mid-1970s.

Linking up for the first time ever with Sew Mama Sew!

Edited: comments and contest are now closed. Thank you so much for visiting my new blog. Feel free to follow me and check back again to see what I’m working on.
