B suggested adding something in the centre here. The orange thread is the same colour as the binding.

If you have a cardinal rule about something, you shouldn’t break that rule. No matter what.
My rule is no cutting fabric after dinner as I will make mistakes.
I carefully layered my fabric and cut two identical border lengths. Sigh.
Tomorrow (before dinner) I will cut some cornerstones.
Consensus among commenters and my kids is this quilt needs BORDERS.
I thought a nice chunky border (on the right, above) would be awesome but now I’m leaning towards the narrower border (left, above). It’s a small quilt. Scale and proportion are important. And this will save me a trip to the fabric store. Is that a good thing though?
This pale grey on white is actually a 108″ wideback which feels very odd cutting small pieces out of.
And if you noticed a weird password encrypted post earlier today, don’t fret. All is well. The learning curve is steep sometimes.
Husband worked at a temporary assignment for most of last year, and became good friends with his co-worker. Her first is a couple of years younger than W, my youngest, and the co-worker was trying to have another kid. After many false starts and dashed hopes she had a girl a week ago!
I get to make another quilt! I love making quilts (of course) but ones that have a purpose are the best.
I saw this one in January:
Edited to add: Rebecca shared this one here and blogged about it here.
Then I saw this one from Sotak Handmade a few weeks ago. The note on the bottom is my info for recreating it. But it’s originally a free pattern from Amy Smart of Diary of Quilter.
Loved the same star and similar colours in both quilts, so I bought fabric late Sunday and made this version this morning:
Borders? Quilting design? Will decide tomorrow. Opinions welcome in the mean time.
Linking up with Let’s Bee Social! and Needle and Thread Thursday. And Quilter in the Closet who is also doing sawtooth stars.
