Scrap swappin’

A while back Janice from Color, Creating and Quilting and one of my fellow 2016 New Quilt Blogger blog hop peeps put out a call for bright coloured prints with a very dark background. So I went through my scraps, strings, strips, and yardage and mailed her off a bunch.

She asked what I wanted in return so of course I said 2.5″ squares! And/or low volume 5″ squares. She sent me both!

And reused my envelope, which I loved.

You can see here what Janice is doing with her fabrics. Thanks for boosting my stash Janice!

Wonky Star Swap, ta-done!

In the taking names and getting stuff done category I present to you my contributions to the #Wonkystars2018 co-ordinated by Rachel Lancer!

One lady asked very graciously for black backgrounds, which was an easy request to accommodate.

The requests after that got more and more elaborate which contributed inversely to my satisfaction about making the blocks.

These stars are ~12″ finished. I think.

This batch used my beloved 2.5″ squares, so will be 6″ finished.

But piecing is piecing which is lovely and enjoyable. So yay!

I am waiting on another eight blocks to arrive and then I’ll have a look at my blocks all together and make a plan for what to do.

This was also on my 2018 Q1 FAL list to get done. Ta-done!

Day 89

Felt like working on the mini-mini quilt for the swap at the guild Xmas social, so I pulled everything out. Got started, liked where I was going, and was totally jazzed about it. Then decided I wanted to change part of it, so I pulled it all apart. And re-did it. And now I don’t like it. Boo.

I’ll spare you the visuals on this one.

I think bad sewing is still better than no sewing but still. I want awesome all the time!

Edited to add this:

I definitely don’t hate it. We’ll see how it shakes out.
